We are seeking a Hydroinformatics Engineer with strong expertise in modeling, optimization, and data‑driven approaches to improve the environmental and social impact of urban watersheds. The mission of this role is to design and implement innovative solutions for optimizing wastewater networks and treatment systems by applying data analytics, physically based and data‑driven models, and advanced optimization techniques.
✅RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Hydroinformatics Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of IT specialists, software developers, data scientists, engineers, and business professionals. Your key responsibilities will include:
Designing advanced solutions for water‑sector applications using analytics, modeling, and optimization.
Developing and applying physically based models of wastewater networks or treatment systems (e.g., SWMM, EPANET, SUMO).
Implementing optimization techniques such as Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Linear / Mixed Integer Linear Programming (LP / MILP).
Building data analytics workflows for large datasets, including data validation and correction.
Developing data‑driven models using machine‑learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow).
Clearly and effectively communicating analytical insights—both visually and verbally.
Participating in Agile ceremonies and coordinating technical project teams.
Creating and maintaining high‑quality technical and project documentation.
✅REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency with hydraulic models for wastewater systems (e.g., SWMM, ICM) or treatment systems (e.g., SUMO, WEST).
Advanced programming skills in Python, R, C++, MATLAB.
Familiarity with data‑driven modeling tools (e.g., TensorFlow, XGBoost).
Experience with optimization methods (GA, LP, MILP).
Ability to lead and support Scrum processes using tools such as Jira.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education
Undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related field.
Master’s or PhD preferred.
Complementary Training
Training in Data Science.
Training in Hydraulic Modelling.
Training in Python.
Languages
Proficient in English and Spanish.
German is a plus.
Experience
5–10+ years of interdisciplinary research or project experience involving diverse engineering or science disciplines.
Minimum 5 years of experience in water‑related projects.
